October 9th, 2023 – October 15th, 2023
There is not much to write this week, as we are closing out our WWII unit with our presentations related to our papers. I have found a fair amount quite interesting, particularly the ones that brought interesting topics to the table or were presented very well. The standout to me was the one that drew comparisons between the Dear Bessie letters and English Romanticism. I thought how they presented their ideas was very interesting and engaging. I wonder how they came upon this topic of discussion. Did they know about English Romanticism beforehand, or was it a product of research? How were these two points mentally connected? It was a great presentation, and honestly, I’d love to read the essay, which also applies to the other presentations I really enjoyed. The upside of these being posted to our blogs is that I can read them!
As for my own presentation, I thought it was alright. I think I presented my ideas well and the way I wanted to, but what tends to get me is time-constraints, similar to the issue I was having with my essay: word-constraints. I’m very talkative, so I could’ve gone on for a longer period and further explained my ideas, but alas, the clock is my enemy. I write how I talk as well. Many pauses, continuations of thought, punctuation for dramatic effect and flow. Therefore, I severely had to cut down on words. I ended my first draft 500 words over the limit! Anyways, there is so much within my Soviet culture and the Holocaust thought process and research that I could have dove into, in both my paper and presentation, but that is for a longer continuation. I really like my topic, and I want to dive into further, related topics in the future.
The paper deadline has been extended until next week instead of tomorrow, which I am very grateful for, although, I would like to have it done by the original deadline so I can relax a bit. I’m quite a busy person, especially this weekend, so I’m keeping that deadline in mind, even though it is no longer applicable. I can feel that the paper itself is almost ready, just a little further baking and she’ll be ready.
